ZEBU
Zebus (Bos indicus), are found in India, some parts of East Asia, and Africa. There are about 75 species of this so called “humped cattle”. Aside from the fatty humps, Zebus also have a big dewlap, long legs, curving horns and drooping ears. They come in different colors : black, gray, or bay. In India, Zebus are raised for milk, meat and leather. They are also valuable draft animals. They adapt well to dry and arid regions as well as in areas where the climate is hot and humid.

In India zebus are considered sacred and walk freely through the streets of cities and towns, where no one bothers them. The Hindus collect the dung religiously, but the respect for these animals will not push them to the point of taking care of them and often these animals lead a miserable existence.
